Sr Accountant

POSITION PURPOSE:

Conduct complex financial assignments involving accounting practices and procedures and directly interact with varying levels of internal and external personnel to obtain financial data. Prepare and report the daily activity of the company in a complete, accurate, and timely manner to enable management to make the best decision for the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Analyze transactions, events, and circumstances that caused changes in the company’s assets, liabilities and equity that must be recognized in the financial statements. Prepare general journal entries to provide a complete record of each transaction or other event that transpired in a given accounting period. Post to the ledger transfers of all items in the general journal to the general ledger. Prepare unadjusted trial balances and provide a listing of open accounts which will be the basis for any adjustments. Prepare adjusting entries necessary to achieve proper matching of revenues and expenses. Determine net income for the current period and an accurate statement of assets and equities existing at the end of the period.
Prepare account schedules that provide details to general ledger account balances. Reconcile balance sheet accounts to the ledger making sure that all necessary general journal entries are made and posted during month end closing. Account for any reconciling items that must be brought to managements attention and recommend resolutions.
Analyze financial reports for both subsidiaries and parent company. Review department expense reports. Verify accuracy of data compiled and reflected on the reports.
Assist auditors in performing quarterly and annual audits by providing audit schedules that tie up with the ledger accounts. Interact directly with external auditors to provide answers and clarifications to any audit questions pertaining to a specific account.
Respond to inquiries by the Census Bureau and compile the census report. Perform financial system implementation testing.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 6-8 Years
Qualifications:
– Degree in Accounting, Economics, Business or related field
– Experience with mid-size to large ERP Systems, JD Edwards,
